Sciatica Treatment in Youngstown, OH

Are You a Candidate For Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression?

Sciatica is a pain that runs from the lower back down the leg of one leg, often into the foot and toes. It is caused by an irritation of the sciatic nerve caused by a compression.

Some people suffering from sciatica also can experience a burning, tickling or prickly sensation, usually on one side of the body. The type and amount of pain a person experiences depends on the location of the nerve compression.

In some instances the pain can be very mild, while in others it can be severe and debilitating. Although most people will recover from an episode of sciatica within a few weeks, the pain can sometime worsen over time or persist for much longer. It all depends on the underlying cause.

Sciatica and Nerve Damage

Although it is rare, in some instances sciatica can result in permanent nerve damage. But the irritation of the nerve that causes the sciatica pain usually is reversible.

Symptoms of a more serious medical problem include bladder or bowl incontinence, growing weakness, or the loss of sensation in the leg.

Where the Sciatic Nerve is Located:

Sciatic nerves are the longest in the body. They extend from the lower back all the way down to the toes.

Sciatic nerves exit the spin between two vertebrae in the lower back and travel behind the hip joint down the buttock and along the back of each leg into the foot.

Sciatica is caused by the irritation of one or both of these nerves. Typically, a herniated disc applies pressure on the sciatic nerve root.

Often, people experiencing sciatica have leg pain, which makes them mistakenly think that the sciatica is caused by some sort of problem within the leg.

Other causes of sciatica can include spinal tumors, spondylolisthesis, trauma, spinal stenosis, or sciatic nerve tumor or injury.

Anybody Can Have Sciatica

Many people believe that sciatica is something that only effects people who have a sedentary lifestyle. And while it’s true that sedentary people are more at risk for sciatica, it actually can affect active people as well, especially if they participate in activities that involve twisting the back or carrying heavy loads frequently.

In most cases, sciatica will resolve itself within a few weeks. Treatment options include exercise, physical therapy and corticosteroid injections. For some patients, however, the pain can last much longer, so individualized treatment plans are recommended.

Sciatica Treatment Options

Another more natural and less invasive sciatica treatment option is gentle, non-surgical spinal decompression treatment. By gently decompressing the involved spinal discs pressure on the sciatic nerve can be relieved and the pain from sciatica can go away.

If you or somebody you know is suffering from sciatica, contact us today for your free consultation. Our medical professionals can tell you if gentle, non-surgical spinal decompression treatment is a good option for treating your sciatica and other pain and spinal issues.

I had an incredible experience with this chiropractor Chris and his staff! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism from the two amazing ladies at the front desk. Chris’s expertise and care truly made a difference in my well-being. They took the time to listen to my concerns and provided effective treatments that alleviated my pain. The physical therapy team are the best at what they do and some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The entire team is not only skilled but also genuinely caring and kind-hearted. I can't recommend them enough – they are truly amazing people who have improved my quality of life. Five stars without a doubt!

They helped me get back to full track after being given a run around on my hand for almost a month! Dr.Chris seen me almost immediately, got me into Dr.Levy's office and they started me with Physical therapy. I can confidently go back to work now and not have to worry about "is this going to hurt my hand more?" I genuinely looked forward to my therapy every week and as well as I'm sad to be done, I'm happy to know that I'm back to where I need to be with my hand! Everyone there is super friendly, fun to talk to, and my favorite part was how genuine everyone was! I'm more than thankful for them and if I ever need physical therapy again, this is 100% where I would go! I was in P.T for my knees and shoulders at other places and genuinely dreaded it almost every time, Ohio Pain and Rehab was the complete opposite for me! I was comfortable, happy, and it felt more like working with friends than a doctor. They take the time to actually listen about what hurts and where rather than the typical "Oh, there's pain? No worries, it'll even out" rather than asking questions. Thank you to everyone at the Austintown Ohio Pain and Rehab office!

My son sprained his ankle on a Wednesday at school. He was on crutches and could not bare weight at all. We went to see Dr. Chris for the INDIBA treatment on Thursday and again on Friday. The swelling was down after the first treatment on Thursday and by Friday, he was walking without crutches and on Saturday he played in his flag football game with no problem! If you're looking for some new, and fast recovery options, DO IT!
